Shaolin Cricket is an academic kung fu legend written by Douglas McLeod and illustrated by Anne Fizzard.
Jake and Jacinthe are comic book collaborators from Moncton New Brunswick looking for a good story to follow up their debut The Vampire Leblanc. But they've enrolled at university and Jacinthe is beginning to question her artistic categories. Meanwhile, Professor Korogi, Jake's roommate's faculty adviser, has published a collection of ancient Taoist sayings, drawing the attention of a wandering scholar-warrior. Jake's roommate Dwayne talks his way into the tai chi club. Jacinthe's roommate Agnes rails against Halloween. The Chinese government moves to flood out the town where all the university's memorabilia is made. There's hip hop, a piece of jade and a nice picture of a chair in hell.
It may just be a photocopy but it was printed in the East Village.
