Today Japan play Greece in Natal. Both teams need a win.
Natal is just up the coast from Recife, is the closest Brazilian city to Europe, and home to the largest cashew tree in the world. That whole block of green above is one tree, which has spread by turning its low-hanging branches into roots. This should lead in to the fact that Brazil is the world's largest producer of cashews, but in fact they are seventh. Ivory Coast and Nigeria, who are both in this World Cup, rank higher in cashews.
Surely there's a team for the Dennis the Menace Group in South America.
Chile. Club Social de Deportes Rangers wear black socks and shorts and a red and black striped jersey.
Argentina. Club Atlético Colón dress in black with a jersy of red and black halves. As do Club Atlético Newell's Old Boys. Patronato de Paraná take to the home field in black socks and shorts and a red and black striped jersey. They are nicknamed El Rojinegro ("The Red and Black"). Defensores de Belgrano, nicknamed El Dragón, wear black socks and shorts and a black and red jersey with stripes on the belly, and red pectorals. Peru. FBC Melgar: black socks and shorts, and a red and black halved jersey. Ecuador. Club Deportivo River Plate Ecuador wear black with a red slash and trim.
Brazil. Atlético Clube Goianiense: red and black hooped jersey, white shorts, red socks! Nicknamed The Dragon. Clube Atlético Paranaense: red and black striped jersey, black shorts and socks. Off topic, Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas were a black and white ensemble with grey socks. I'm pretty sure they're the only club I've so far who use the colour grey. Correct me if I'm wrong. It must be to differentiate themselves from all the other black and white teams in Brazil. As noted in Part I, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo are a near miss, wearing a red and back hooped jersey, red socks and white shorts. Another close one, Sport Club do Recife clad themselves in a black and red hooped jersey, black shorts and black socks. As do Esporte Clube Vitória! All these hoops. Brazil has got have a club fit for the Dennis the Menace Group. Guarany Sporting Club: red and black hooped jersey, white shorts, red and black socks. Guarani de Juazeiro of Série D wear a black and red hooped jersey, black short and socks.
Série C club Campinense! Black and red hooped jersey, black shorts, red socks! They're in!
And Série D Oeste Futebol Clube! Red and black hooped jersey and socks, and black shorts. Close enough!
Trem Desportivo Clube wear a red and black hooped jersey, black socks and white shorts. Close, but not close enough.
Colombia. Cúcuta Deportivo wear a red and back halved jersey, black shorts and red socks.
Venezuela. Deportivo Lara: red and black hooped jersey, white shorts, red socks.
That was worth the effort: two new teams for the Dennis the Menace Red and Back Group: Campinense and Oeste.
