Sweetheart Abbey, not Palmerston Park.
Morton visit Dumfries today to take on last-place Queen of the South, the giant-killers of last weekend whose win over Hamilton Academical allowed the Ton to slip into first place. That victory is probably an indicator that we can expect a lot of churn in the First Division standings this year. And naturally QoS will be interested to find out if they can make it two giants in a row.
But of greater importance is the struggle for the Pitch of the Year Award, this year between Palmerston and Cappielow.
I had no idea that the word sweetheart went back to the 13th century. Read about Dervorguilla of Galloway here.
Going into today's competition, Rangers and Morton are the only unbeaten teams in the SPL and SFL. (Way to jinx our guys, eh?)
[Oops. Queen of the South win 4 - 1. Morton goal by MacDonald. He is joint leader in First Division scoring with four goals. Morton remain in first place, two points clear. But there are only six points between first and tenth place.]
