The Leaning Tower of Dingwall.
To Dingwall to make up a postponed date with division leaders Ross County. This is the third meeting between the Staggies and the Ton this season. The first, at Victoria Park, ended in a scoreless draw. The second, at Cappielow, resulted in a 2 - 0 win for the highlanders.
Ross County have their eyes squarely on next season's Premier League. They came up from the Highland League along with Inverness CT in the Nineties, and both clubs have prospered and advanced, but usually Inverness has prospered and advanced first, followed two or three years later by Ross County. If the Staggies gain promotion in May it will be the first time the cross-muir rivals have been in the Premier together, which will make for some good turnouts at the gate.
But even if Ross County win the division, they still must get their stadium up to SPL standards in time for next season. Read all about it in the Ross-shire Journal.
The Staggies still have only one loss, and none at home. However, they were held to a 1 - 1 draw by last-place Ayr United Saturday. At approximately the two-thirds point in the schedule Ayr already have more points than last year's last-place club Stirling accumulated all season. Which is not to say that Ayr will win promotion, but with only 21 points separating first and last it's a very tough division.
Seems I'm writing about Ayr United a lot lately.
So instead, how about that Archie Campbell? Is that not the most Scottish name possible?
[Argh. Ross County v Morton is postponed again.] [Three other games go ahead, though. Partick win, and cause Morton to slip to sixth place.]
