Soviet North Japan

At the end of World War Two the Soviet Union lobbied for Japan to be divided into occupation zones like Germany and Austria. If this had panned out the Soviets would have had a satellite state in Hokkaido and Tohoku throughout the Cold War. Colour key: red = Soviet, dark blue = US, light blue = British, orange = Chinese, green = a zone shared by the US and China.
