The Canadian dollar issued on March 17th, 1917 featured a portrait of Princess Patricia, granddaughter of Queen Victoria and daughter of the Duke of Connaught. She lived in Ottawa from 1911 to 1916 while her dad was Governor-General, and was the acme of celebrity in Canada at that time. The Princess Pat's Canadian Light Infantry is named after her.
