The SWHL A is the top women's ice hockey league in Switzerland. There are six clubs:
HC Lugano Ladies. Six times Swiss champions. They play at the Resega (capacity 7,800). The Swiss national team at the 2017 World Championship included three Lugano players.
Neuchâtel Hockey Academy. Les Hirondelles du Littoral. Founded 1999. Blue, grey and white. Rink: Piste du Littoral (6,500). One Hirondelle played for Switzerland at the 2017 World Championships.
SC Reinach. Founded in 1984 as Damen-Eishockey-Club Aarau, they joined SC Reinach in 1989. They were Swiss champions in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Rink: Kunsteisbahn Oberwynental. Black and purple. One Reinach player was on the Swiss team at the 2017 World Championships.
EV BOMO Thun. Formed in 1992 by the amalgamation of DHC BOMO and DSC Thun, both founded in the 1980s. Their rink, KEB Grabengut, can accommodate 4,000. Red and white.
SC Weinfelden Ladies. Founded 1988. Blue and white. Rink: Eishalle Güttingersreuti (3,100).
ZSC Lions. Nine times Swiss champions. Blue, white and red. Rink: KEB Hueried. Seven ZSC Lions made the Swiss national team at the 2017 Worlds.
SWHL B contains ten teams: EHC Bassersdorf, HC Brandis-Juniors, HC Feminin Lausanne, HC Fribourg Ladies, GCK Lions, EHC Kreuzlingen-Konstanz, SC Langerthal, Neuchâtel Hockey Academy, EC Wil, EHC Zunzgen-Sissach.
SWHL C contains 28 teams. SWHL A, B and C were formerly called Leistungsklasse A, B and C or LKA, LKB and LKC for short.
