The Young Firm. There's a story going around that the SPFL is about to add Celtic and Rangers' youth squads (hereafter "the Young Firm") to League Two.
What kind of attendance numbers have the Young Firm had in their Challenge Cup matches these past two years?
2016/8/2 Celtic U20s 5 - 1 Annan Cappielow 216
2016/8/10 Rangers U20s 4 - 0 Stirling University Forthbank 493
2016/8/16 Cowdenbeath 1 - 2 Celtic U20s Central Park 449
2016/8/17 Rangers U20s 1 - 3 Stenhousemuir Forthbank 324
2016/9/3 Livingston 5 - 1 Celtic U20s Almondvale 1,214
2017/8/15 Annan 3 - 1 Celtic U20s Galabank 278
2017/8/16 Dumbarton 2 - 1 Rangers U20s Dumbarton 389
Only one of these matches attracted a halfway respectable crowd, and even that was below Livi's 2015-16 average home attendance.
If Celtic and Rangers colts are added to League Two, but are not allowed to earn promotion, there's the possibility that they will sit at the top of the table and prevent others from advancing to League One, like Honda FC in the JFL.
On the other hand it only took Annan Athletic one year to figure out Celtic U20s.
The SWFL fixtures are out and Morton Women are in SWFL 1 South. The first match is February 18th.
