Epicurean Stoa

This is a reconstruction of the stoa built in Oinoanda, Lycia to display the works of the Epicurean philosopher Diogenes, whose writings are not otherwise known and are now lie scattered over the town site, having been reused in later buildings and defenses that have since fallen down. The work of piecing together Diogenes' writings (and the stoa), and puts him in the same category as Philodemus, another philosopher whose work (in his case on charred scrolls) is slowly emerging in the 21st Century. Morton are on their second three-game losing streak of the season. They did not lose three in a row at all last season.

Morton lost five in row from April to July 2018. The last time they lost more than three in a row within a single season was September/October 2015 when they lost four. Their longest losing streak of the decade was eight losses and ran from November 2013 to January 2014.

The postponement of Partick vs Alloa means that Morton cannot fall into the cellar today, even if they lose. With a win they can move up to eighth place.

I figure if I say lose, losing and lost often enough we'll win.

Port Glasgow Athletic versus Hamilton Academical. These two played seventeen Scottish league matches. Port won nine, Accies five, with three draws. How did they wind up playing an odd number of games? Renton dropped out of the league after four games in 1897, and were replaced by Hamilton who played the rest of their schedule. Port Glasgow have one game against Renton and one against Hamilton that season.

KTLA, 1949

Some of the voice talent at television station KTLA in 1949. The puppets in the foreground are Beany and Cecil, the stars of Time For Beany, which won the Emmy for best children's show three years in a row. Bob Clampett, who pitched an animated John Carter of Mars movie in the Thirties and worked on those wartime Bugs Bunny cartoons, was producer. He revived the characters of Beany and Cecil for an animated cartoon in the 1960s. Daws Butler went on to voice Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound at Hanna-Barbera. Joan Gardner was Helen in The Jetsons. Stan Freberg had a career as a political satirist in the 1950s, making records for Capitol. Pianist Korla Pandit had his own exotic classical music show. Source.
