About Peebles Rovers:
Peebles is a picturesque market and spa town in the watershed of the Tweed, rather closer to Edinburgh than to England.
Peebles Rovers FC was founded in 1893. The club's home ground is Whitestone Park.
The club played in the Border League in 1893-94, 1896-97, 1897-98, 1902 till 1908, 1911-12 and 1912-13, 1919-20, 1920-21 and 1921-22. They were members of the Scottish Football Union in 1909-10 (finishing 3rd), 1910-11 (1st), 1911-12 (7th) and 1914-15 (an unfinished season). They also participated in the Eastern League in 1912-13 and 1913-14, and a different Eastern League in 1921-22.
They joined the Western League for 1922-23, and then followed the other clubs into the SFL as the new Third Division. In three seasons in the Scottish League Third Division they finishing 14th, 8th and 14th.
After the Third Division was dissolved the club played the 1926-27 season as members of the Scottish Alliance. They entered the Midlothian Junior League in 1927-28.
They joined the East of Scotland League in the 1928-29 season, and won the league championship five times before the war, and again in 1945-46. They played in the EoSFL until 1966 when they went junior and then amateur. They rejoined the EoSFL in 1979 and have been there ever since, generally in the lower division. Perhaps remembering their experience of the 1920s they opted to stay where they were when most of the top division went off to form the Lowland League in 2015.
