Morton won't start until October this season, so in the meantime let's follow Ayrshire's Premiership club Kilmarnock FC.
Kilmarnock FC was founded in 1869, two years after Queen's Park FC. Both clubs took part in the founding of the SFA in 1873. In their earliest years Kilmarnock played some variety of rugby, which would explain why their ground is called Rugby Park.
What was Kilmarnock's greatest moment? April 24th, 1965, Helicopter Saturday, Killie beat Heart of Midlothian 0 - 2 at Tynecastle to edge past them for the league title. Both clubs ended the season with 50 points, and Hearts' goal difference was vastly better, but in those days the tiebreaker was goal average, and Killie's 62 goals for and 33 goals against made for a 1.879 goal average, better than Hearts' 90 goals for and 49 goals against which came out to a 1.837 goal average. It stands as Killie's only Scottish title. Goal average was replaced by goal difference the next season.
Killie have won the Scottish Cup three times (1919-20, 1928-29, 1996-97) and the League Cup once (2011-12). Like Morton they have never won the Challenge Cup, and in fact Morton knocked them out of the 1991-92 cup.
The last time Killie were not in the top tier was 1992-93. Since 2000-01, when the split season was introduced, Killmarnock have made the split five times. Killie found themselves in eighth place when 2019-20 ground to a halt; they had accumulated 9 wins, 6 draws and 15 losses with a goal difference of -10.
KIlmarnock's badge is modeled on the badge of Clan Boyd, who had their headquarters at Dean Castle in Kilmarnock. (Compare Mito HollyHock's use of Mito Domain emblems.) Their mascot is a squirrel.
They wear blue and white stripes. When you click on the Open Menu icon at the Kilmarnock FC website it rotates and turns into a Killie strip:
For a history of Kilmarnock's stripes and hoops versus Morton's hoops and stripes see here.

Developments:
The dates for the 2020-21 Scottish League Cup are out. The first three matches of the group stage will be in October before the league schedule starts for the Championship and Leagues One and Two, but then the fourth and fifth matchdays will be in mid-November, followed by the next rounds in late November, December, January and February. It's be the first time the League Cup has gone into the New Year since 2015-16.
All SPFL clubs will be in the League Cup, with Brora and Kelty yet to confirm. It would suit my thematic purposes if Morton were to draw Killie in the group stage; though if Morton have to face any Premiership club in October it is bound to be a rout.
