Harold Wilson turns the sod at the former Caird shipyard in 1950 in hopes that someone will come along soon to finish the job. The place did eventually become the site of a Royal Bank of Scotland processing centre, which has since closed. Source. Harold Wilson was a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society. (See below.)
Morton host Arbroath. Arbroath are having a great season and are currently third in the division with 14 points and 14 goals scored. Morton are eighth with 5 points and 5 goals scored. Morton have not scored in a league match since August 21st.
Morton can finish the day as high as sixth place or as low as tenth.
Each side has a Jack Hamilton, Morton's goalkeeper and Arbroath's striker, so there is the possibility today of Jack Hamilton scoring on Jack Hamilton. This has happened once before:
2019/9/27 6' Queen of the South 1 - 1 Dundee
In that game Jack Hamilton the striker for QoS scored against Jack Hamilton the goalkeeper for Dundee.
Which Morton players have appeared in every match this season, league and cup? Lithgow and Oliver. Though, strictly speaking none of them have because of that forfeited game against Stranraer in the League Cup group stage.
Morton Club Together became legal owners of Greenock Morton and Cappielow Park Tuesday. The transfer was to have happened June 1st, but some unforseen problems needed to be dealt with; for example, someone else owned a corner of the property.
Kilmarnock have loaned striker Innes Cameron to Queen of the South, another Championship club. QoS will be prohibited from fielding Cameron against Killie, but if he helps QoS finish higher than Killie, there will be egg on some East Ayrshire faces.
Jim Duffy is now officially manager of Ayr United.
