Morton's Castle in Super Mario World. Source.
Morton visit Palmerston Park for a match against Queen of the South. At stake is proprietorship of Morton Castle in Nithsdale. Since this make-believe tradition began QoS have held the castle every year but one. (See below.)
Morton are sixth in the division, QoS tenth. On Tuesday QoS beat Cove Rangers to advance to the Challenge Cup final.
Three quarters of the way through the season Morton have 31 points, which puts them on track for 41 or 42. But they're playing much better than they did in the first half of the season. If they do as well in the fourth quarter as they did in the third they'll finish with 49 points, which could be enough to overtake Raith Rovers. The gap between fifth and sixth is presently 8 points.
When was the last time Morton and Queen of the South met in the top division? December 22, 1951. Queen of the South won 4 - 1.
