It's the final of the Canadian Premier League playoffs (tomorrow). Atlético Ottawa host Forge at Lansdowne Park.

Forge have been playoff champion twice before. This is Ottawa's first shot at it.

It's unclear whether the winner of this game go on to any kind of Concacaf competition. The confederation is in the middle of revamping its tournaments, and I don't know what's up for 2023.

Last night Morton (6th) hosted Inverness Caledonian Thistle (2nd) under the lights in a match televised on BBC Scotland. 

Morton have signed 34-year-old Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose, who has over 50 caps with the Nigerian national squad and has played for Kaduna United and Bayelsa United in Nigeria, Ashod in Israel, Derby County in Derby County, and Celtic, Hibs, Livi, St Johnstone and Dunfermline.

2022-23 is one-third over. There has been a lot of churn this season. (See the top and bottom teams list below.) Anyone can wallop anyone. Which Championship sides have not given up 4 or more goals in a league match so far this season? Raith, Ayr, Dundee.

The clocks change tomorrow in the UK. Next Saturday when the sun sets before the final whistle the floodlights will be turned on all over Scotland, in a climate of high electricity costs. There has been talk of moving opening kickoff earlier, but so far no action.

Morton win 4 - 0. Goals by Muirhead, Gillespie and Blues, plus an own goal. There is concern at the Morton forum that Ambrose was an ineligible player, in which case it'll be a 3 - 0 win for ICT instead.

It's the 29th All Japan Club Team Soccer Championship. This tournament is for teams playing at the prefectural level. The sixteen participants are: TSV1973 Yokkaichi, Shanore Koriyama, K'2 Tamano, FC Kawasaki, Kashima SC, Volver Ueno, FC Kuroshi O84, Sapporo Hyacinth FC, E-Wing Izumo, E.X.D., Honda Sukuka FC, Sekisho FC, Sapporo Hokkaido University, Taihens FC, OKFC, and Ise Yamato FC. These teams have passed though prefectural and regional tournaments to get here. This tournament is a good place to spot up-and-coming clubs; Iwaki FC won it in 2016 and 2017. They will play a round a day, with the winner known on November 1.

The town of Litvínov is right on the former East German border and has the largest oil refinery in the Czech Republic. Litvínov sounds like it must have been renamed after some Communist like Maxim Litvinov, the Soviet ambassador to the US 1941-43, but in fact the town has gone by that name since at least 1352.
