BK Mladá Boleslav go right back to 1908 but they have never won the Czech championship. They most recently entered the Extraliga in 2014. BK stands for Bruslařský klub ("skating club") and the hockey team is prosaically nicknamed Bruslaři ("The Skaters"). Currently Sparta are 4th with 42 points and The Skaters are 8th with 36.
Sparta have hired Miloslav Hořava as head coach. And they have signed defenceman Michal Kempny, formerly of Chicago and Washington of the NHL. They're on a tear and have won their last seven games.
