From 1972 until 1981 the Macdonald Lassie Trophy was awarded annually to the Canadian women's curling champions. The sponsorship was a roaring success for the Macdonald Tobacco Company: death from lung cancer rose steadily among Canadian women throughout the decade-long arrangement. Source.
