It's Round Five of the Scottish Cup. The matches are:

Ross County [2 - 2] Inverness CT (Monday)

A Highland Derby and Championship match-up. They have played three games in league play this season: Ross County won once and there were two draws.

Ross County midfielder Iain Vigurs who has been out with a foot injury was arrested in Inverness early Sunday morning on a drunk and disorderly charge.

Hibs [3 - 1] Raith Rovers

Kilmarnock [0 - 0] Rangers

Hearts [4 - 0] Auchinleck Talbot

This is the first time Talbot have made it to the final 16 of the Scottish Cup. They got to the final 32 in 2011-12.

St Mirren [1 - 2] Dundee United

East Fife [0 - 1] Partick Thistle

These two met in Round Two of the Challenge Cup and East Fife won.

Ross County and East Fife enter today's play as the only clubs still alive in two cups.

Challenge Cup:

Last weekend's postponement of the already postponed Bohemians/East Fife quarterfinal set up an unforgiving state of fixture congestion. East Fife were already committed to this weekend's Scottish Cup round, and the Challenge Cup semi-finals and the League of Ireland season opener are next weekend. After discussions Bohemians gallantly withdrew from the cup, and East Fife progress to the semi-finals where they will face Ross County.

1928-29: Morton were at home to King's Park and won 5 - 0.

1951-52: On this date in 1952 Morton visited Clachnacuddin at Grant Street Park, Inverness, and won 1 - 2 in the second round of the Scottish Cup.

Cowlairs versus Celtic. Both were founding members of the SFL. Celtic won both meetings of the 1890-91 season, outscoring Cowlairs 7 - 0. They met twice in the Scottish Cup. Celtic won 8 - 0 in Round Two of the 1888-89 Cup, and 4 - 1 in Round Three of the 1891-92 Cup. They met in the semi-final of the 1894-95 Glasgow Cup, Celtic winning 2 - 0. Altogether Celtic outscored Cowlairs 21 - 1.

Swiss Challenge League: Kriens [2 - 0] Winterthur

HFX Wanderers have signed Ndzemdzela Langwa and Chrisnovik N'sa. Langwa is from Ottawa and most recently played for UD Socuéllamos in the Spanish 4th tier. N'sa comes out of the Montreal Impact academy. I wonder how many times Langwa has had his last name misspelled L'Anglois.

Last September 115 players tried out for a spot on the Wanderers roster. Each one payed a $200 registration fee. That's $23,000 for the club. It'll be interesting to see how many of them get hired.

The 1st preliminary round of the 2019 AFC Champions League was played this midweek. Yangon United and Persija Jakarta progressed.

If only there were a glamour tournament between Asian and North American clubs in February, just before their leagues start up. But wait, it's the Pacific Rim Cup at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. The games are:

The 2019 Lunar New Year Cup was played in Hong Kong this week. Teams were: Hong Kong League XI, Sagan Tosu, Auckland City, and Shandong Luneng. Shandong Luneng beat Sagan Tosu 3 - 1 in the final.

Prince Kūhiō Day

Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole Piʻikoi was the only royal to also be a member of the US Congress. He worked on behalf of Hawaiian statehood, and is one of two native Hawaiians to have an annual holiday named after him. The other is King Kamehameha. Source.

Kelea, 15th-Century Surfer Girl

Kelea, of whom in the past the bards of Oahu and Maui loved to sing, was the beautiful but capricious sister of Kawao, king of Maui, who in about A.D. 1445, at the age of twenty-five, succeeded to the sovereignty of that island.

No sport was to her so enticing as a battle with the waves, and when her brother spoke to her of marriage she gaily answered that the surf-board was her husband, and she would never embrace any other.
