Statue of Admiral Farragut in Farragut Square, Washington DC., 1881, by Vinnie Ream. Farragut is known for shouting, "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!" at the Battle of Mobile Bay in 1864. The statue makes a cameo appearance in the 1943 film The More the Merrier and inspires Charles Coburn's character to repeat the catch-phrase about a dozen times in the movie, sometimes in song.
